When you visit the website
Like all websites, our web host's servers automatically record technical information for each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. These records are used to keep the website running and secure.
What we do not collect
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, social media tracking or any other tool that follows you across websites. It does not take payments. Please do not include sensitive information in your messages, such as health details, religious or political beliefs, or financial or identity document numbers.
3. Why we use it
- To reply to you and continue the conversation you started, for example about partnership, support, services or our programmes. We rely on the consent you give when you tick the box on our forms, or when you contact us directly.
- To keep records of our work and our supporters, where you have agreed to work with us or support us.
- To keep the website secure and to prevent spam and misuse.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example where the law requires us to keep records or to share information with an authority.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for any purpose you would not reasonably expect. We will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.
4. Who we share it with
Only AIRDAB staff who need your information to respond to you can see it. We also use these service providers:
- FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) receives what you type into our forms and forwards it to AIRDAB by email.
- Google provides the email account where your messages arrive (Gmail).
- Our web hosting provider stores the website and its server records.
- Google Maps receives information from your browser only if you choose to show the map on our Contact page. See our Cookie Policy.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of AIRDAB, the communities we serve or others.
5. Information stored outside Uganda
FormSubmit and Google may store and process your information on servers outside Uganda. Uganda's data protection law allows this where the other country gives adequate protection, or where you consent. By ticking the consent box on our forms, you agree to this. If you prefer that your information is not handled this way, please phone us on +256 776 068819 or visit our office instead of using the forms.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to further contact: up to 2 years after our last exchange with you.
- Records of partners, supporters and donors: for as long as the relationship continues, and afterwards for as long as the law or our funders require us to keep financial and project records.
After that, we delete the information or make it anonymous.
7. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. These include sending form data over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, limiting access to staff who need it, and protecting our accounts with strong passwords. No system is completely secure. If a breach of your personal information is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the Personal Data Protection Office, as the law requires.
8. Your rights
Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a good reason to keep
- object to how we use your information, or ask us to stop using it
- withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
- complain to the Personal Data Protection Office (see below)
To use any of these rights, email airdabuganda@gmail.com or write to us at the address below. We may need to confirm your identity first. We do not charge for this, and we will respond within the time the law allows.
9. Photos and stories on this website
This website shows photos and stories from the communities we work with. If you appear in a photo or story, or are the parent or guardian of a child who does, and you would like it changed or removed, please contact us. We will review your request promptly.
10. Children
Our website forms are intended for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when the law or our services change. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Please check this page from time to time.
